Q1. ANSWER

Let Ramu’s age be ‘x’, then his fathers’ age be 6x and let his mother’s age be y.

According to the given condition;

Sum of their present ages = 70

ie, x + 6x + y = 70

Let after ‘k’ years father’s age is twice of his son’s age.

So, after k years,

Father’s age = 6x + k = 6x + 4x = 10x

        Son’s age   = x + k = x + 4x = 5x

        And mother’s age = y + 4x

According to the given condition;

after k years, sum of their ages = 142

ie, 10x + 5x + y + 4x = 142

Now, 2 – 1=12 x = 72

Hence son’s present age is 6 years,

then father’s present age is 6x = 6 x 6 =36 years.
